Agartala, May 16 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said that electorates of the country straightway rejected Congress-led UPA alliance in recently concluded nine-phase Lok Sabha elections. He said the voters rejected Congress out of total frustration and anguish for its anti people policies during the UPA regime. “We had been campaigning against the anti-people policies of the Congress led UPA government in all states.

The people have rejected  Congress”, he said.
Speaking to reporters at the civil Secretariat here today, Chief Minister Sarkar stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cashed in from the ‘anti-Congress vibe’ flowing across India. “This is the worst result
for Congress since Independence. Majority of the people has rejected
Congress”, he said.
The Chief Minister said that BJP would now have to fulfill aspirations
of the people of the country. He said that people would be watching  the new government’s activity.
Asked about situation in West Bengal, Sarkar said that the Lok Sabha election was conducted in West Bengal in the midst of continued violence. He said that all political parties except the Trinamool
Congress alleged biased role played by the Election Commission in conducting the polls in WB.   Making a short note about the poor result of Left Front candidates in Bengal, Sarkar said the results were ‘unexpectedly low’.
According to latest inputs from the state election department, Left Front candidates kept trending ahead of Congress candidates by 5 lakh 100 votes in West Tripura constituency and 4 lakh votes in East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. Sarkar congratulated the people for the victorious trend of both CPI(M) candidates in Tripura and said the victory with such ‘huge margin’ was encouraging.
