AGARTALA, Aug 27 (TIWN): With much controversy raised against Suresh Prabhu’s dream for Chinese model train, the first Indian-Chinese joint-venture train repair and manufacture plant has begun operations in India.

The plant, owned 51 % by the Chinese, is part of a broader co-operation between China and India.

It is set to include China-based training programmes for Indian Railway engineers, an Indian “railway university”, based on the Chinese model, and joint technological research to improve railway and train technology.
