AGARTALA, May 16 (TIWN): Election Commission of India (ECI) could not announced the result of both the seats of Tripura till late evening because of technical problem in three EVMs in West Tripura and four EVMs in East Tripura.
CEO Ashutosh Jindal said unless ECI permit, Returning Officers can’t declare the result though cumulative counting of these seven EVMs is negligible.
“The EVMs are not showing the total counts and not delivering the results. We have been pursuing with ECI but no response yet,” Jindal said.
He however, stated that in East Tripura tribal reserve seat, Industries and Commerce Minister Jitendra Chaudhury won by a margin of 5,00100 votes defeating his nearest rival of Congress party Suchitra Debbarma.
In West Tripura constituency, senior CPI-M trade union leader Shankar Prasad Datta won by a margin 4,67,000 odd votes defeating nearest rival of Congress party Prof Arunadoy Saha.
