KAMALPUR, Aug 26 (TIWN): The distorted body of missing youth Tapas Dutta (42) was ultimately recovered from a deep valley of Sukhiabari this morning.

The body was recovered almost 5 kilometres away from Sukhiabari TSR camp and almost 3.5 kilometres away from the spot wherefrom his bike was recovered. This morning when the Champahaour police packed up their search operation then local youths of Manikbhnadar clung to it.

They first found a takkal (traditional cutting weapon of the tribals) by the NEC road. Then they started their search in the valley just opposite to it. They found the pen of Tapas.

Then going further down almost 500 feet they discovered the body. Then the police led by SP Jayanta Chakraborty traced the body. SDPO Shamananda Sharma of Khowai, SDM Prasun Dey of Khowai, SDPO Kamalpur Chandan Saha, and DC Khowai Abhijit Debbarma reached the spot.

MLA Anjan Das from Kamalpur and MDC Gurupada Debbarma were also present. The post-mortem was concluded on the spot. Then the body was handed over to the relatives of Tapas.

It got found that, his throat was cut open with sharp weapon. A wooden stick was also found which was might used to beat Tapas. Primary investigation hinted that, he might be first beaten and then thrown into the valley after cutting open his throat.

Tension prevailed in the entire area brewing resentment for tribal-non-tribal tussle. Both the MLA Anjan Das and the MDC Gurupada Debbarma appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony.

SP Khowai Jayanta Chakraborty assured that, police would find out the real culprit soon. Still, if administration not adopted early measures than any untoward situation might spark out at any moment.
