AGARTALA, Aug 24 (TIWN): In another major jolt, CID recently raided Tripura Handloom, Handicraft & Sericulture department and busted a scam of Rs. 5 crore scam and yet after passage of 5 days no action is taken against Handloom, Handicraft & Sericulture Dy. Director D Debbarma.

CID team along with huge police force raided the department and seized many important documents.

However, in this connection the accused was posed as Deputy Director Debendra Debbarma against who complaint was lodged in NCC police station.

According to the reliable source, Chief Minister Manik Sarakar has ordered for the raid based on the report tabled by the Director of the department T K Chakma.

The source also added that the complaint against the Dy. Director Debendra Debbarma over misappropriating Rs. 5 crore floored by the centre was signed by Chakma.

Besides, it is reported that during the raid conducted by the CID team computer hard disks, pen drives and many other important documents were seized, but Debendra was not arrested yet.

Asked about any statement by the CID after the raid, the source said that they were not willing to make any comment in this regard.

It was alleged that Debendra was engaged with serious misappropriation of central fund and was also deep necked in corruption and based on that the state government leaving no stone unturned has directed the police to take up CID raid in the office and take necessary action in this regard.

However, this has yet again brought a serious embarrassment for the state government here.

The raid was conducted based on the allegations of corruption of the top level officers of the department over misappropriation of Central fund.

However, nobody was arrested yet in connection with the case.
According to report, director and two other officials of the department were interrogated by the CID team and this is for the first time CID raided any department of Tripura government, over corruption charge against the higher ups.

According to the source, D. Debbarma joint director along with other officials were interrogated by the CID team and a thorough questioning was taken by the team today during the raid.

It is to be noted that Tripura witnessed maximum number of scams in recent years under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar,. In no other times in Tripura's political and administrative history,so many scams took place in every layer of  State Government. A CBI probe is must to unearth these dark nexus of politicians and bureaucrats.
