AGARTALA, May 15 (TIWN): A review meeting of senior police officers was convened today in the police headquarter to discuss the details regarding handling of law and order problem before, during and after the counting of votes on May 16, police sources said.
Chairing the meeting, C. Balasubramaniam DGP of Tripura asked all to render exemplary services with dedication and devotion to maintain peace and law and order in the state. He termed handling of law and order has been a challenging task, he congratulated all the police personnel in making the poll process a success.
Emphasizing on efficient handling of law and order, he asked the police department to work in unison with other central paramilitary forces and civil administration. He also dwelt at length regarding the strategies and security arrangement in all matters related to deployment of magistrates, police, promulgation of order under 144 CrPC security measures, periodical patrolling, vehicle checking, multi- layered security arrangement at counting hall etc.
Briefing on the security scenario, the SP informed that more than 1000 security personnel have already been deployed at various vulnerable locations. He also informed that few companies of TSR are already deployed here and proposal for additional requirement has already been put up ahead of tomorrow counting.
