AGARTALA, May 14 (TIWN) : Three officials of a private construction agency- Coastal Projects Ltd- Shanik Moulali , Beerappa Parameshwari Ravi and Chandraskekharan Nair have got acquitted from all charges including waging war against the state levelled against them by the investigating agency.Based on intelligence inputs, police chased a vehicle coming from Radhapur and intersected it near Lake Chowmuhani area on June 17 night, 2012. In course of search, cops recovered Rs. 25 lakh in cash from Dhanu Kalay, one over ground agent of the outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).
After conducting investigation, the Investigating Officer submitted charge sheet against three executives of the construction agency and seven NLFT collaborators- Dhanu Kalay, Rathasree Kalay, Bishu Kalay, Safique Kalay, Dolphin Kalay, Jamu Kalay and Mohan Kalay.
Based on the charge-sheet, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), West Tripura has given green signal to begin the trial of the sensational case. However, three officials of a private construction agency- Coastal Projects Ltd- Shanik Moulali , Beerappa Parameshwari Ravi and Chandraskekharan Nair knocked the door of the High Court Tripura seeking leniency.
After one and half year long battle, the High Court of Tripura has discharged the three executives of the construction agency from the criminal liability in respect of Radhapur case N0. 09 of 2012.
However, the High Court in his verdict said trial against seven others- all NLFT cadres would continue in the lower court as well on May 8.
In the charge sheet, the Investigating Officer came to know that Dhanu Kalay, an active NLFT cadre and some others had collected the money from the Coastal Projects Ltd, a private construction agency engaged in erection of barbed wire fencing. And, the money was paid to the outfit to get released of some kidnapped persons of the construction agency.
