KAMALPUR, Aug 18 (TIWN): The reluctance which caused the destructive accident yesterday not changed a bit even today from the apart of administration.

The so-called processing for the remedy of the situation not yet attained any result. And, hence, the truck remained in the stream. The bridge remained in half-hanging position. And the vehicles had to move almost 10 kilometres extra for reaching Ambassa.

Yesterday the weak bailey bridge at Rakhaltali under Salema police station collapsed when a fertilizer loaded truck bearing number TR-01-DD-5989 approached through the bridge.

When the truck reached the mid-way of the bridge, the right side of the bridge broke and the truck plunged into the below stream upside down. A private car numbered TR-04-B-0585 which followed the truck also struck on the bridge just behind the truck.

In total three persons including two drivers and an assistant of the truck namely Mihir Kar (50), Suleman Ali (51) and Ataur Rahaman (26) respectively got injured. Local people, Salema police and Fire Service rescued them and shifted them to Kulai District Hospital.

All of them got reported as the residents of Assam. Among them Ataur was reported to be in critical condition and later shifted to GBP Hospital. Till now, the administration could not make arrangement for either the rescue of the truck or the shifting of the fertilizers.

And at every moment, the bridge continued to collapse more and more. At any moment, the entire bridge might fall on the truck making the disaster and loss greater. Whenever contacted with the authority had the same old excuse of continuing the processing.

It might be mentioned here that, the local media several times reported the deplorable condition of the bridge. But neither the state PWD nor the GRIEF adopted any measure to avoid the dreadful consequence.

And the disaster took place today. Now, if what measure the state government would adopt in near future, remained the matter to be seen.
