AGARTALA, August 18 (TIWN): State continue to suffer under massive load shedding yet TSECL MD Shyamal Roy claims that Tripura is now a shedding free state and the power plants in Tripura are supporting well.

TSECL MD Shyamal Roy’s words appear contradictory as TSECL MD says that there is no load shedding but state still  faces loadshedding in many of the places and there are also placed where power connection n have not yet reached.

Blackouts are a frequent occurrence in many interior part of the state because of a shortage of power and an antiquated electricity grid. At the same time, many of the people living in villages of the interior part of the state have no access to the electricity grid at all.

Hot summer and a deficient monsoon season has increased the demand for power as farmers irrigate fields in rural areas and residents run their fan far longer than usual.

The common people alleged that the power requirements have failed to keep pace with the demands of an expanding economy and a growing population of the village. As a result, power disruption for several hours a day has become a routine across much of the country.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, TSECL MD Shyamal Roy said that Tripura is now load shedding Free State and the state is now not buying power from outside as the power plants in Tripura are supporting well.

However, when questioned about the underground cable laying project he said that the project is stopped at this moment and will resume after some time. The central government has sanctioned Rs 165 crore for Tripura to lay underground electricity cable. Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has taken the work to lay a wide underground network of high and low tension wires through towns with this fund but the work is stopped at this moment.

Once again load-shedding began in Tripura with the onset of summer season. Tripura is suffering frequently from power cuts as increasing demand of power supply in state. However, the rural areas and other subdivisions except the capital city are badly suffering due to the power crisis.

Although, during the winter season the load-shedding problem was little less but as soon as the weather is warming up, demand of power is increasing.

Since the winter season, Govt assured people that no more load-shedding in state, but till date no solution has come out.

In reality, Tripura is reeling under heavy load-shedding especially in rural areas since many years.

Despite of several tall claims by the ministerial authority of the state saying that with the commencement of Palatana and with the extension hand of the other power plants of the state, Tripura will be a load-shedding Free State, till day the civilians are facing unscheduled load shedding frequently.

Where the State Government claims to make the capital a smart city on the other hand they fails to provide the basic necessity that is a load shedding Free State. The people of the capital where has to face prolonged hours of load shedding, in the interior parts there are people who are continuing their life in dark for several days.

Unscheduled load-shedding running into hours has landed the people across the State in dire straits.
