AGARTALA, Aug 17 (TIWN): First Indian women gymnast who made it up to Rio 2016 and finished at Fourth would be leaving Brazil on Thursday along with coach and will reach to Delhi for attenting a grand felicitation program.

After concluding her program at Delhi she is scheduled to fly to Agartala on August 22 along with her coach Bishwesawar Nandi.

It is to be mentioned here that in the women's vault final, Dipa's average score was 15.066 from her two vaults of Tsukahara-720 and Prudonova where she logged 14.866 and 15.266 respectively to finish fourth behind Switzerland's Giulia Steingruber who logged 15.216.

Her effort was a big improvement especially in the 'death-vault' of Prudonova which has the maximum difficulty level of 7.000 and Dipa would score about 15.100 out of a perfect 17.

The 23-year-old from Tripura, the first woman gymnast from India to qualify for the Olympics, didn’t win a medal, but ranked an impressive fourth position in the women’s vault finals in Rio de Janeiro on Aug. 14. American Simone Biles took the top prize with a final score of 15.966. So far, India is yet to win any medals in this year’s Olympics.

Karmakar received a final score of 15.066 for executing one of the most dangerous feats in gymnastics, the Produnova vault. Named after Russia’s Elena Produnova, who first performed it in 1999, the move has been performed successfully by only five people in the world, including Karmakar. It’s considered one of the riskiest routines in the sport, often referred to as the “vault of death.”
