Agartala, May 13 (TIWN): The Additional District and Session Court today convicted one accused for raping a minor girl sentencing him to seven years rigorous imprisonment (RI). The convicted rapist was identified as Kapil Das, a resident of Purba Narayanpur, son of Haridas Das under Airport police station.

It is being reported, one neighbouring minor girl of the said area was preparing potato for cooking in her house on October 15, 2009. By that time Kapil Das entered into her house for availing the chance of her loneliness on that day. Later, Kapil raped the minor girl brutally in absence of her parents.

Of late, while her parents had returned to home, the victim girl informed about the incident to her parents in details. Then immediately her parent logged a written complaint against the rapist Kapil Das at the Airport police station on same day. The police had registered the case under section 376(F) of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Later, police had arrested the rapist on the same day of incident. However, the investigation officer (IO) Shekar Deb Sarkar submitted the charge-sheet accusing Kapil Das on December 28, 2009.

After a long-period hearing, the Additional District and Session Judge- SC Saha today declared the judgement sentencing Kapil Das to seven years rigours imprisonment under section 37(F) of IPC. A total of 14-wirness statements were recorded before the court during the trial. The case was moved by the Addl. Public Prosecutor- Bhaskar Debbarma.
