AGARTALA, Aug 13 (TIWN): With significant improvement in supplies of petrol, Food and civil supplies department ended its month-long rationing of fuel imposed after the acute crisis of petrol in the state over past two months due to the crippled NH8(44).
Rationing system was imposed over the distribution of the petrol in the state.
Rationing was imposed for controlled distribution due to scarce resources, goods, or services, or an artificial restriction of demand. Rationing controls the size of the ration, which is one's allowed portion of the resources being distributed on a particular day or at a particular time.
It is to be mentioned here that rationing is often done to keep price below the equilibrium (market-clearing) price determined by the process of supply and demand in an unfettered market. Thus, rationing can be complementary to price controls.
The petrol pump owners had imposed fuel rationing after its storage started dwindling along with the disruption in supply over past 2 months due to the dilapidated condition of NH8-44.
It is to be mentioned here that according to the rationing policy two wheelers were given petrol for only 200rs and the four wheelers were given petrol for Rs500 so that a balance can be maintained.
However, with improvement in petrol supply in the state the authority has lifted fuel rationing system and from now on the consumers can fetch in huge quantity.
