AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): After starting her second innings as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee is now eyeing Tripura where the CPM-led Left Front has been in power for more than two decades.

The TMC has a presence in Manipur and Assam as well, but Mamata first wants to target Tripura where the majority of voters are Bengalis. The Trinamool chief is all set with her mission “CPI-M quit Tripura” to address a public meeting at Agartala’s Stable Ground on August 9.

Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata  Banerjee is all set to strengthen Trinamool Congress in the state where it emerged as main opposition party.

We will also prepare our road map under her directions for the next Assembly polls in Tripura," Sudip Ray Barman said while addressing the gathering at Vivekananda Stadium.

In a setback to opposition Congress, six dissident MLAs in Tripura had joined TMC making it the main opposition party in the Left-ruled state.

Mamata Banerjee had said the next target for Trinamool Congress was Tripura. The Assembly polls in Tripura are scheduled in 2018 where TMC is playing the role of principal opposition .

The party has already come up with their strategy “Maa Mati Manush ” and  have managed to get a major space in the political scenario of Tripura.
