AGARTALA, May 11 (TIWN): With the counting for Lok Sabha elections doing the round, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ashutosh Jindal today visited Belonia Girls’ School, one of the important counting centres of South district.The CEO accompanied by District Magistrate Soumitra Banerjee and SDM Nripendra Sarma went to school to oversee the preparation for the counting process.During the visit, the CEO also inquired about the security arrangement for the counting process. When asked about his sudden visit to Belonia, Jindal said, “It is routine check before going for counting process. It appears everything is okay here”.

Later, the DM claimed the CEO arrived here to take a stock of the counting preparations at Belonia Girls School. “He is happy with the preparations for the counting of Parliamentary elections”, he said. CEO visited Belonia to take stock of Lok Sabha vote counting preparation in South Tripura. Also part of visiting team were Senior Deputy Magistrate Hiralal Dabbarma, SDM Belonia Sri Nripendra Sarma, SDPO Belonia. There are Four Counting Halls for West and East Parlimentry Constituencies .

Meanwhile, an all-party meeting was held to brief the representatives of different political parities about the preparation and procedures of counting for the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency.

The meeting attended by CPM, Trinamool Congress, Congress, Tripura Gramin Congress, IPFT representatives was held at Circuit House. Returning Officer Abhishek Singh presided over the meeting.

In the meeting, the RO briefed representatives about the procedure of the counting process in threadbare. He also sought help from political parities to ensure smooth conduct of counting. Addl DM Uttam Kumar Chakma explained on how to count postal ballots. Superintendent of Police, West district briefed representatives of political parties about the security arrangement for counting of polled EVMs.
