India's pride Dipa Karmakar scores 6th in Rio Olympic vault 1st round, overall position 21 : Billion hopes on sports icons

AGARTALA, Aug 8 (TIWN): Amidst billions cheers, Dipa Karmakar achieved 6th place in vault, disappointing the expectation in uneven bars. Dipa's coach Biswesar Nandi was there to support her, but the pressure was enormous on Dipa as she was the single Indian to carry all gymnastic medal hopes from nation. However, with the historic day for Dipa Karmakar and India she performed in Rio Olympic and broke the record of male dominated athelete world in Indian-Sports. The Indian competed in the gymnastics on Sunday in the uneven bars category. She is India’s first female gymnast to qualify for the quadrennial mega event after 52 years.However, nobody can deny that the 22-year-old has given a life to India’s gymnast world. Apart from being the first Indian woman, she also became first from the country to qualify for the quadrennial extravaganza after 52 long years. Till day from India although 11 Indian male gymnast have taken part in the Olympics, but Dipa bring and brought-up in NE State Tripura has created history in Indian Gymnast World.

But Dipa and her coach alone ran the show, whereas for other countries plenty of supporters, multiple players were present. But Dipa and her coach were found to encourage each other on that foreign environment.
