AGARTALA, Aug 3 (TIWN): The West Tripura Police has kept a hawk-eye vigil over the capital, especially around the Assam Rifles parade ground and the surrounding areas where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will unfurl the national flag and will deliver speech on the Independence Day.
Besides huge number of personnel from the local police, those from the special cell and security wing of the West Police were also pressed into service for security arrangements while the traffic police took care of smooth vehicular movement, West SP Abhijit Saprtarshi.
Security has been beefed up keeping a close check in the vehicles including busses and other passenger cars. The hotels and roads are kept under strict check with the help of sniffer dogs and metal detectors, SP added.
As a part of tight security arrangement in the city, the police have set strict vigilant in the check-points of the city.
The live feed from the cameras will be closely monitored to ensure peace in the city.
West SP further said that a fool-proof security plan is in place and we are prepared for any eventuality. People from the general public are requested to cooperate.
Special checking of all vehicles, both private and commercial, entering State from neighboring states through border entry points is being carried out, added.
Besides, BSF jawans are keeping strict vigilance along the 856-km long Indo-Bangla border. Going by the increase in number of infiltration attempts in the recent past, extra care is being taken to keep a check on such activities as well.
Paramilitary forces are conducting search operations in the interior parts of the state. Besides, security will also be tightened at the airport soon.
Along with the nation Tripura will also observe 69th Independence Day on August 15, following which preparation has already began for the parade at Assam riffle ground.
Preparation is on the full swing to observe the 69th Independence Day in great enthusiasm and national fervor.
According to program schedule the day would dawn with special tributes to the freedom fighters for the integrity, solidarity and development of India. The 15th August is a national holiday in India.
However, parade is to be conducted in the ground of the Assam riffle by TSR, CRPF, and Tripura Police, women police, home guard, NCC, NSS and others to grace the occasion of 15th August, the Indian Independence Day.
The day is celebrated all over the country with flag raising ceremonies, tributes to the national heroes and fireworks taking place. The main celebrations take place in the Assam riffle ground, where the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will raise the national flag.
In Agartala preparation is getting momentum as the vendors have set up stalls for the sale of Colorful flags, national flags, banners and picture of national heroes who struggled day and night to achieve a common goal of freedom.
