KAMALPUR, Aug 3 (TIWN): Almost every summer the state witnesses one or more incidents in which the school students especially the primary level students become ill after consuming Mid Day Meal.

And after much hurly-burly it reveals that either something wrong has happened with cooking or the consumption of iron tablets in empty stomach has showed it impact. The same incident has happened here at the Primary Level of Mendi High School yesterday.

In that incident, five girl students fell ill after going back home. They had taken Mid Day Meal at school. And soon after getting back home, they started vomiting and felt acute pain in the abdomen. After some ado, the students were taken to Salema PHC.

The teachers also rushed there. After primary treatment, the students recovered and were kept under observation. The students who fell ill were Mallika Tripura, Kiranmala Tripura, Budheswari Tripura, Biswamala Tripura of class four and Mayarani Tripura of class five.

The guardians demanded that, there must be something in the cooked food. But the teachers claimed that, as those five students were given iron tablets in empty stomach hence they fell ill. Otherwise all the students should fell ill.

Now, the question rose as if the teachers not got trained as how the iron tablets should be consumed. Again, why the MPW staffs would not be instructed to attend the schools of their locality on the day of iron tablet and de-worming tablets consuming?

And the education department and its officials continued in their happy slumbers knowing nothing about the actual scenario of the schools. As a result, the students of the remote areas had to suffer every year during the summer and pre-monsoon.
