AGARTALA, Aug 2 (TIWN): DWS Minister Ratan Bhowmik on Tuesday inaugurated a day long Training cum orientation program on water Quality at Pragna Bahawan.

The program was organised in collaboration with IPHE Agartala regional centre and PWD (DWS) government of Tripura.

The program mainly laid importance on the quality of water.

As a apart of the program a souvenir was released by DWS Minster Ratan Bhowmik at Pargna Bhawan.

This orientation program aims at review and wrap up the monitoring and control of safety and quality of drinking water at inside services under the current statutory requirements including the selection of materials, the duties of licensed plumber and the updated installation methods and quality assurance and testing methods.

However, it is to be mentioned here that instead of taking any measures to improve the condition of Howrah river water Minsters are busy in holding seminars and training program inside AC rooms and giving lectures on maintaining the quality of the water.

As per the report of Tripura State Pollution Control Board, Howrah River becomes grossly polluted in Agartala city due to the garbage’s being dumped into the river.

The Howrah River’s Pollution is now at such a high level that the amount of toxins, chemicals and other dangerous bacteria found in the river are now almost threatening a danger to the lives of the people.

Howrah which is the life-line of water service for Agartala is being polluted every minute due to both domestic sewage and other pollutants that are being dumped in to the riveruntreated.

The Howrah River’s Pollution is now at such a high level that the amount of toxins, chemicals and other dangerous bacteria found in the river are now almost threatening a danger to the lives of the people.

Water of Howrah river is the main source of water for Agartala city and is also said as the life-line for Agartala, however, days are not far when the city will face severe crisis of water if the pollution continues at this large level.
