Covering a distance of around 2,480 km in 47, hours newly launched Tripura-Sundari Express to reach Delhi Anand Vihar station on Tuesday

AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): The much awaited weekly passenger train named "Tripura Sundari Express" which was inaugurated on Sunday amidst huge enthusiasm and spark by Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu, between Agartala and Anand Vihar station of Delhi will reach Anand Vihar station on Tuesday. Covering a distance of around 2,480 km in 47 hours the train will reach Delhi from Agartala for the first time after it was inaugurated on Sunday on the newly laid BG tracks. However, amidst Agartala and Delhi the train will give stoppage at number of stations. Starting from Agartala, it will pass through Ambassa, Dharmanagar, karimganj, badarpur, New Halflong, Lumbding, Hojai, jaigi road, Guwahati, New Bongaigau, New Jalpaiguri, katihar, barauni junction, patliputra junction, Mugalsarai, Allahabad, Kanpur central and then to Anand Vihar terminal. Bangladesh Railway Minister Mazibul Hoque, Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain and top officials of the Indian and Bangladesh government flagged off the train from Agartala railway station on Sunday.

However Union Minister Suresh Prabhu assured the gathering that an Agartala-Kolkata direct train would be introduced before August. 

The Railways would help in making the region a tourist hub, he said. The weekly Tripura Sundari Express to Anand Vihar station of New Delhi will run from Agartala on Thursdays and make the return journey on Mondays, with 18 stops in the 47-hour journey. 

The railway station here witnessed two historic events on Sunday. As Tripura Sundari Express rolled out of the station, the Railways marked the milestone of establishing connectivity between the capital of the northeastern State and New Delhi.

Thousands of cheerful people gathered at the Agartala railway station on Sunday to witness the historic moment, with some women blowing conch shells to wish the formal launch of the train services a successful one.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effective look east policy Tripura got its first BG express train on Sunday. The moment was filled with Joy and ecstasy when the air was filled with the whistle of the BG Express train.

Adding another milestone in the history of Tripura, the land-locked state has finally made its entry in the BG railway map of the country.  

Improving the transport and connectivity in the landlocked Tripura of the northeast region is one of the top most priorities of the Modi’s look east policy. A lot of focus is being laid to enhance railway connectivity in the region.

Finally the century old and much awaited dream of the people of the landlocked state came true when the first BG train was inaugurated with joy and enthusiasm from the end of the people.
