AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): CM Manik Sarkar on Monday inaugurated the 12th Foundation Day program of Agartala Government Medical College at the college premises.

The inauguration ceremony was marked in presence of Health Minister Badal Chowdhury, Principal Secretary Health M. Nagaraju and other delegates of Colleges administration.

As a part of the program an Annual report was placed by AGMC principal Professor Kamal Krishna Kundu.

However, apart from presenting report, medals were also distributed among the meritorious students. As per the schedule, a cultural program is also scheduled to be organised in the evening.   

Agartala Government Medical College is located at Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, one of the north-eastern states of India. It is at Kunjaban near the Malancha Nivas", home of Manikya Dynasty at Agartala. The college is in cooperation with the G.B. Hospital which is the hospital of the college. It is completely run by the government of Tripura.

The college was established in 2005 and the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. The college is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is affiliated to Tripura University.

Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis, Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases (Chest Medicine), Dentistry, Dermatology, STD & Leprosy, Orthopaedics are covered in the college.
