AGARTALA, Aug 1 (TIWN): With the improvement in the condition of the national highway, fuel crisis is heading towards meeting an end soon.

It is to be mentioned here that since past two days the rush at the petrol pump has come down and there are hardly information of revolt from any part of the state.

However, petrol was available at almost all the petrol pump of the city on Monday and not much queue of bikers were noticed outside the petrol.

It is to  be mentioned here that the state has been witnessing a  mayhem since Friday morning where the agitated consumers has burnt tyre, staged road blockade, raised voice against the negligence of the state government towards seeking renovation of NH8(44)  which has led to the massive crisis in the state.

NH8(44) is damaged in a long stretch at Karimganj in the neighbouring Assam due to rain and water logging. It is closed since almost two months as a result of which oil tankers cannot enter the State. So, the state government has sent a proposal to IOCL to dispatch fuel by freight trains,  but sending proposal was   the sole responsibility for claiming but so far no concrete  steps is taken to fetch petrol via trains.

What is Golden era? The common people raised question.  What have been the Ministers doing when the responsibility of the NH8(44) was under state PWD department.  People further claimed that the crippled condition of NH8(44) is not an impact of one or two months results the roads have turned immovable since 2013, when the State PWD took it from BRO.

After the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) handed over development and maintenance of 104 km of the Assam Agartala National Highway (NH8-44) to the PWD from Border Roads Organization (BRO) in July 16th, 2013, the condition of the NH8-44 is getting worse day-by-day due to negligence of PWD. It is to be mentioned here that earlier, when the maintenance work of NH8-44 was under Border Roads Organization (BRO) the maintenance work was progressing in a rapid speed since, after the PWD got the opportunity the maintenance work has stopped.
