TIWN July 29, 2016
AGARTALA / OLD AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): Law & Order situation is fully collapsed in Agartala city when agitated public hit Durgabari road on Friday morning. Protesting against the prolonged fuel crisis, the common people are burning tires, blocking roads.
When fire brigade came before Durga Bari Petrol-pumps, public didn’t allow the firemen to extinguish the fire also.
During the protest, public were screaming that it is only Chief Minister Manik Sarkar who is responsible for all the miseries of public.
When police came they also blasted the police and called them by “Manik Sarkar’s” psychopath. Angry mass also didn’t allow police to take control of the situation, which is creating fuel crisis.
Situation is same in another part of the subdivision. Agitated mass blocked road in Khayerpur (Old Agartala) and asking the Govt. for the reason behind NH-44’s pathetic condition.
It was on July 12 that Tripura Transport Minister Manik Dey on the occasion of Kharchi inauguration-2016 told the public in Khayerpur (Old Agartala) that under CPI-M Ministry a rapid development has come in Tripura. To indicate the ‘Rapid’ development of Roadway he mentioned that this Khayepur area was almost a barren land, and people from other parts avoided to come here due to the pathetic condition of roadway. Earlier people used boats to pass waterway, now it has "polished" roads.
However, the agitated mass has given well answer to so called Rapid Development in Tripura, with this protest.
Public are saying, “Is it Manik Sarkar’s Golden era?” Whether in North Tripura massive fuel theft are going on, where Assam Tankers are given up at Churabari/ Dharmanagar area, in Agartala and other subdivisions people are suffering from such a crisis. BOC's oil is also not pure due to huge fuel theft and then filling up tankers by mixing Kerosine or alike elements.
Agartala SDM, R K Noatia came on the spot at 8.45, almost 2 hours after the problem started. People standing since morning 3 AM before petrol pumps in long lines. But in morning when dealers said they can't provide oil then the mass anger created.
Even after informing the Governor of Tripura, no development yet has been done. The ongoing fuel crisis is due to the massive fuel looting at North Tripura and NH-44’s ongoing pathetic condition.
