4 day long Border Co-ordination conference ends : Discussion held on setting up of more BOPs

AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): 4 day long BSF/ BGB meeting ends on Wednesday. With the end of the session BSF/ BGB jointly held a press conference at BSF camp at Salbagan Agartala.

Meghalaya BSF IG P K Dubey, BGB led by Regional Director Brigadier General Mohammad Habibul Karim addressed the press conference, discussed various border security issues.

Addressing the press conference, Dubey said, “This is the 2nd yearly conference between BSF / BGB. The first conference was held inNovember 15”.

Discussing about the major issues which they are facing, he said, there are many issues remained unsolved but after partisan the scenario will be different. New huts creation, fencing  will help in reducing crimes.

Replying media questions about JMB’s presence Habibul Karim said, “We don’t have any foreign tie-ups/ links. The terrorist groups are inspired from the land it-self via few misguiding. However, Bangladesh Govt. is trying its best to solve the issue as fast as Possible”.

However, Tripura / Mizoram borders have been given the first priority for BOPs in whole NE.

“We are trying to set up new BOPs with North-East Zone more and more. Already 35 new BOPs have been set up, and more additional 50 BOPs will be set up in Indo-Bangla Border area with North East India”, he added.

“Since last 30 years there were almost no camps. But with the set up of new BOPs the Border security will be more evident”, he added.

“To bring the unguarded borders under security is the first priority”, said Karim.

Discussion was also held about the construction of fencing in Mayanmar side. However, in last year 17 new BOPs were craeted in Bangladesh-Mayanmar border.

Discussion was also held about the illegal migration, Trans-border crimes.

However, the border fencing work is creating some problems as it has been found that the Indo-Bangla Border is separating a same family.

Discussion stressed over the increasing cattle smuggling, cross-border terrorism and the Global security situation.

However Karim declined to have any trace of ISIS in Bangladesh or entrance of ISIS via Indo-Bangla Border.

The drug selling smuggling issue as Phensedyl, liquors were also discussed during the press meet. But Karim claims that the issue of Phensedyl have almost gone.

In India however, the Phensedyl is banned to product and  sell. But still there are illegal smuggling of Phensedyl.

Karim mentioned that the outcome of the meeting will be very fruitful and all the discussed matters, suggestions will be taken seriously.
