AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): North Tripura DM Sandeep Mahatme visited NH-8 (44) to inspect the condition of roadway there.
Central Govt. has released some funds for Tripura to make a temporary solution of National Highway, so that vehicles may enter in this monsoon. After the temporary work is done Ministry of Transport and Highways will take the charge of National Highway, said sources.
In the mean time to see the present status of NH-8 (44) at Lowairpoa-Churaibari road DM North held visit there on Wednesday.
In demand National Highway renovation, common people have already met Governor Tathagata Roy and urged him to take a control over the situation.
Due to National Highway’s deplorable condition Tripura is suffering from acute petrol crisis.
Supply from neighbouring Assam by tankers has almost stopped due to dilapidated condition of the NH 8 (44) in Assam-Tripura border. ‘No petrol, No diesel’ signs and long queues of bikers waiting for several hours is a common scenario in Tripura.
The National Highway is the sole route which connects the state to the rest of the country, has gone it paralyzed stage and reportedly, five hundreds of vehicles are standing on the route as the road has turned to slush.
