AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): The long pending border issues of Tripura have been the prime reason behind the increasing smuggling, terrorism threat in Tripura.

With the end of  day long meeting held between BSF and BGB, the delegates met Tripura CM and informed  him about the discussed matters.

The 4 day long BSF/ BGB meeting had been ended on Wednesday and after end of the session BSF/ BGB  held a press meet at BSF camp at Salbagan Agartala.

Following the media talk they,  met CM Mnaik Sarkar, at Secretaria. Manik Sarkar is also the Home Minister of Tripura.

The 4 day long Indo-Bangla meeting held in Tripura, discussion took place regarding pending border issues including long around 158 KM unfenced border.

This meeting stressed over Border issues, including  remaining fencing work in Tripura/ Mizoram and other Northeastern states. A 21 member team from BGB led by Regional Director Brigadier General Mohammad Habibul Karim arrived Tripura on Sunday and kicked off 4 day long meeting with BSF led by Tripura frontier Inspector General J.B. Sangwan.

However, under Tripura PWD, the border fencing work is going in a snail’s space.  Karim however, during the press meet mentioned, “If you don’t do border-fencing alone, we will do jointly but after the partisan the security will be more strong”.

In last month June 24 Susheel Kumar, the Secretary- Border Management (MHA) arrived in Tripura to inspect the border status of here and held a meeting with Tripura Govt. officials in the presence of Chief Secretary Y P Sing, DGP K Nagraj, RD Dept. Principal Secretary GSG Ayyanagar.

But before his departure, he expressed extreme displease about the fencing status of Indo-Bangla border in Tripura.

However, after the 2nd annual session meeting ends on Wednesday, hope is there that the Border fencing works will get momentum.

“We are trying to set up new BOPs with North-East Zone more and more. Already 35 new BOPs have been set up, and more additional 50 BOPs will be set up in Indo-Bangla Border area with North East India”, he added.

“Since last 30 years there were almost no camps. But with the set up of new BOPs the Border security will be more evident”, he added.

“To bring the unguarded borders under security is the first priority”, said Karim.
