AGARTALA, July 25 (TIWN): The city once again on Monday witnessed view of wastage of water amidst acute crisis of water at Buddha Mandir. The pipeline burst yet again on Monday morning making millions of gallons of water go down the drain at a time when the city is facing acute drinking water shortage.

Negligence in drilling work along the road for some construction has lead to this breakage in the pipe just adjacent to Buddha Mandir leading to wastage of water for more than hours as there was no one to look into the issue for repairing the breakage.

Wastage of water from water pipes in the road has become a regular scenario, sometimes in front of CM manic Sarkar’s house or sometime at Battala due to the flyover construction work but no one is there to come forward for the renovation of the broken pipes.

Traffic movement was highly disturbed following the breakage in water pipe and splashing water all over.

Commuters faced transport chaos as they tried to travel through the route this morning after the burst pipe sent a torrent of water down residential streets leading to gallons of water being wasted. Several residents could be seen trying to wade through the water.

Water supply was disrupted in some parts of the city owing to the breakage of the water pipe at Buddha mandir area where the digging work was being carried out on the stretch. The pipe burst occurred in the morning when the water supply was made to run and suddenly splash of water pipe burst and started splicing water. According to sources, pipe bursts are a common occurrence along the stretch during the works.

Following the pipe burst, the area witnessed water logging, leading to disruption in the movement of vehicles.

Water supply to several areas in the city was affected because of the burst of a main pipeline.

The burst that occurred in the morning led to flooding in the vicinity. "The information we have received till now is still very preliminary. Citizens are calling to inform and inquire. We do not have information of water supply problem it will lead to tomorrow in the areas it supplied water to. The line is considered to be one of the central lines and people from the concerned department are yet to take a note on the seriousness of the issue, a localite said.

The residents of Budhha mandir area have been complaining of water shortage due to the low water pressure since as the water pipe burston Monday leading to water leakage.  The pipe burst happened on Sunday morning and the water supply for entire got area got affected.

The pipeline burst due to the drilling done for the road digging work going on. The water pressure was disturbed and authority is reluctant to take any action.

The water is being wasted as the local people have temporarily put up stones to stop the water leakage and no repairing is done so far.
