AGARTALA, July 18 (TIWN): Agartala East police on Monday busted gambling racket behind the Hindi higher Secondary school at Abhoynagar and arrested at least 10 gamblers from the spot. Acting on a tip off, Tripura East police on Monday raided the spot behind Hindi Higher secondary school at Abhoynagar and arrested 10 gamblers from the spot. However, police also said that cash worth amount of Rs20, 820 was also recovered from the spot along with three mobile phones and notebooks and pens. However, police is yet to carry out the detailed investigation but the arrested gamblers are dragged to lock up from the spot. According to police this is one of the biggest rackets which police have busted today and will also conduct regular raids to curb the rising business of gambling demon the city. The illegal business of gambling for earning more money in short time is leading to chaos in the city. Although, some restrictions are imposed for practicing such activities but the so called restrictions have failed to stop gambling in the state.Day after day the youth are getting engaged in this business aiming to make money. 'Teer' gambling is going on unabated creating a jittering atmosphere in the entire state. More and more people have started making cash bets upon prohibited betting and gambling activities in all most all the district. With a motive to become rich rapidly, poor people as well as rich people have engaged themselves in such anti-social activities. Earlier the youths were totally ignorant of the said gambling. Presently, it scattered throughout hilly areas along with the urban areas due to the gamblers.
The business has turned profitable for a particular section; most of the people involved in the activity have been suffering a great loss. While the youths are supposed to remain attentive towards study, the gamblers at present are drawing their attention towards the disastrous activity.
Youths have found gambling more profitable as they need not to do any investment for the said business. A number of youths are getting into huge debt and often resort to illegal activities to fund their addiction including stealing from their loved ones as well as turning to other illegal ways of making money to gamble.
The illegal business of ending and gambling has been rampant here in Tripura-capital at every nook and corner with the gamblers making a hefty profit. Surprising, but one cannot deny to the fact that a large section of people belong to a good and patterned family are found engaged to the ending and gambling business who simply put hefty amount and sometimes return empty handed.
The capital city has now gained a thrust for this illegal business. At the same time the young generation is on the verge of destruction, while anti- social activities going on at full swing from morning to evening all across the state.
