KOLKATA, May 3 (TIWN): CPI (M) politburo member and Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar participated in two mass meetings. One in Basanti Sonakhali, in favour of Subhash Naskar, Left Front nominated RSP candidate for Joynagar Loksabha constituency. Another in Garia Mitali Sangha-er Math, in favour of Dr. Sujan Chakraborty, Left Front nominated CPI(M) candidate for Jadavpur Loksabha constituency.Manik Sarkar also reminded about the unprecedented all-out attack on democracy in West Bengal by the TMC. Several Leftist leaders, activists have been murdered in last three years in the West Bengal. Around forty four thousand activists have been ousted from their home.
The offices of Leftist parties and organizations have been charred.
Addressing huge gathering on both occasions, he said Trinamool Congress is strangulating democratic voice in West Bengal to terrorize the voters. Manik Sarkar, CPI (M) Politbureau member also said if the elections in West Bengal can be held in a terror-free environment, the Left Front have potential to perform better.
He added that the people have started reacting against these atrocious activities. There is every reason to be hopeful about the regaining of mass support in favour of the Left Front if the polls can be conducted in a terror-free environment.
