DHARMANAGAR, July 15 (TIWN): In yet another blow to the Manik Sarkar Govt’s dilapidated education scenario across the State, minor aged school students were forced to dismiss classes for an uncertain period of time demanding basic facilities. Although Tripura Govt’s tall claims of providing quality education to schools across the state, but the reality is that in this 21st century, there are schools in Tripura which have no benches, no drinking water facility, suffer from lack of teachers and CPI-M cadre-raj inside the schools. North Tripura’s Higher Secondary School, named Sribhumi Vidya Bhawan H/S School, under Dharmanagar is suffering from various crisis and a polluted environment as CPI-M cadre-raj is dominating the whole school, but the Education Dept and Administration has no concerns about it. Tripura’s lame-duck Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty staying in Air Conditioned rooms and travelling in air-condition vehicles may be unaware about the problems of the students of rural Tripura. But the students after demanding basic facilities for a long time, have finally took the extreme steps to lock the school-gate on Friday.

They announced that they will not open the gate unless their demands are fulfilled. TIWN correspondent visited school and spoke to the school students for this pathetic situation. Many students complaining “We have to sit often on floors due to lack of benches inside classes, no drinking water, no teachers ”.

“There are filters, but since months there is no water and all the filters left dry, waterless. In this summer although we bring our water, but it’s not sufficient”, they added.

As a result students go for dirty water or tube-well water for drinking. This is however is an example of full negligence of the school authority and District Education authorities.

Most interestingly, a local CPI_M goon has set up a shop inside the school, and allegation against him is for harassing the students as per his wish. Students also demanded to abolish the shop from school-premises.

However, in a close look it can be seen that there is no School-Gate (which is a violation of laws). There is no cycle stand inside school, as a result many bicycles are taken away by thieves in broad-day light, but it seems that the authority has no headache about it.

The quality is mid-day-meal is also very poor. Lack of teachers, sufficient fans inside class-rooms has hit the meaning of ‘Quality-Education’ in this school.

As a result, students have come in massive protest on Friday, demanding the basic facilities to be provided to them.

 Dharmanagar's Sribhumi Vidya Bhawan Higher Secondary School is a typical example of CPI-M Govt's corruption and huge embezzlement of Central funds.
