AGARTALA, July 15 (TIWN): One Pranjit Das was arrested by Agartala East Police for illegal delivery of petrol towards North Tripura. Talking to East police, they said, ‘The incident occurred in Friday, when police getting informed via sources nabbed a vehicle bearing number TR081601 with 1775 litre of petrol inside it’.

The petrol loaded Bolero car was most like taking towards Cha-Manu, North Tripura but at Asram Chowmuhani the driver Parnjit Das was arrested. The vehicle was also seized as it was taking petrol to North Tripura.

The North Tripura Dist. has become the centre for all kinds of illegal selling including fuel theft, smuggling, fake note circulation, or terrorist-zone.

The vehicles come from Guwahati also sell fuel to the locals smugglers in North Tripura. But due to the unchecked illegal business the common people across the state are suffering from fuel crisis.

On the one hand the state is suffering since last 23 days from acute petrol crisis, on the other hand the continuous black marketing in Tripura has hit the law and order of the state.

It’s very surprising that whereas the petrol pumps are dried up due to huge crisis fueled by NH-44’s pathetic condition, on the other hand, it’s found that the children in local areas are selling petrol directly to the bikers and other vehicular. When state’s law and order reels under massive fuel theft, the District Administration has turned a blind eye from the burning issue.

Reportedly, there are 2 to 4 shops at Rail-Gate, under Durgapur Dharmanagar which has their Go-downs inside. Many stocks are there inside their go-downs, said source. However, their business is so much rampant but the whole system has remained unchecked.

Dharmanagar sources said that the trucks which come from Guwahati in broad day light, the truck drivers sell the fuel to the local shop-keepers at North Tripura. Surprisingly police, and Dist. authority keep numb over the issue.

This illegal business is however works as chain market of business where reportedly, thieves sell the fuel by the truckload. The trucks which are bearing stock of fuels inside Tripura are selling in high demand at North Tripura.

In the name of NH-44’s pathetic condition, chain market of business are ruling over the state.

Allegations are coming that the black marketing of petrol-business, which are feeding a section of unauthentic group of dealers, has remained unchecked since years.

Recently SDM Dharmanagar said that atleast 20 to 30 tankers are coming in state, and there should be no reason behind acute petrol crisis. Assam and Tripura citizens both are involved in black marketing in bordering areas and it is also emerging as an alternative business for many, said sources. \

Apart from this North Tripura is also a hub for fake note circulation and all kinds of Ganja, drug, brown sugar business. Due to the unchecked check-posts and borders of state and misuse of train-service the North Tripura has almost become the corridor for all kinds of illegal business. Reportedly, in last 1 week atleast 4 accused were arrested in allegation of drug business.

TIWN photographer had also taken picture of vehicles selling petrol illegally at Dharmanagar. In this situation recovery of 1775 litre of petrol has hit the controversy of law and order set-ups, under CPI-M era.
