TIWN July 14, 2016

AGARTALA, July 14 (TIWN): Even after High court orders to clear 31% DA to the state government employees, Tripura government once again on Thursday in the cabinet meeting deprived its employees by giving only mere 4% DA. It is to be mentioned here that Tripura High Court has ordered the state govt. to pay 31 % DA unless the govt. here doesn’t take any proper DA system and Pay Commissions implement. High Court Judge Subhashish Talapatra in a divisional bench announced it. Court has ordered to give the 31 % DA since 1/1/2009 to 27/8/2011, in 3 instalments. So the first instalment will be started from 1/7/2016. By increasing 4 per cent DA for the pensioners and state government employees the difference between the state and central employees still remained at 42%. “Claiming state government’s financial crunch, it has released additional 5% of DA for the employees and pensioners,†State Finance Minister said after a cabinet meeting chaired by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. All Northeastern States pay DA to the State Govt employees and the DA percentage between the state and the central govts are almost similar but the difference is less except communist run Tripura.
70% of the states’ government employees are supporters of the ruling party CPI-M.Manik Sarkar seems indifferent towards the long standing demands of the employees and the deprivation carries on.
As per the rules, employees have the right to get equal amount of DA like Central government employees. Other states were following the norms meticulously. But the Tripura government has failed to ensure DA payment equal to those of central government employees between January 2009 and August 2011.
It is obvious that Tripura will stand as the only State which is deprived of this pay scale due to State Govt fault. Now, with the passing of time, chapter of truths will be focused in front of the people. A section of employees alleged that, the state government is depriving the employees by not implementing the central pay scale.
Other than this allegation is also made on the statement that the state government is misleading the people of the state by telling them that they are not in a position to pay because of the union finance commission depriving the state government.
From 1st January 2016 Central Govt have implemented the proposals of the 7th Pay Commission for its employees. But in Tripura Manik Sarkar & Co is still busy in putting the blame upon the 14th Finance Commission.
