AGARTALA, May 02 (TIWN): The final electoral role publication for three - tier panchayat election will publish on 5 June next, a press comminque of State Election Commission (SEC) stated.The drafted role will be published on May 9.Claims and objections over the draft list would be accepted till May 26, the communiqué said. Public hearings on objections, if any, would be conducted from May 28 to May 30. The electoral role will be based on the final electoral published on January 1 last.

The  drafted  list of polling stations for the coming Panchayat election in Tripura was published  on April 30. The communiqué said that all District Election Officers (DEO) were instructed to take up the issue at concerned levels across 591 Gram Panchayats, 35 Panchayat Samity and 8 Zilla Parishads.

The State Election Commission today issued the advisory for advance meetings with political parties wherever required to ensure better accountability and clarity in the poll process, the source in the state election commission said.

Polls would be held in 6,111 seats among 591 Gram Panchayat, 419 seats among 35 Panchayat Samitys and 116 seats among eight Zilla Parishads of the state.All gram panchayats, Panchayat samity and Zilla Parishads of the state are slated to go to polls in July.The state election commission issued draft notification of delimitation in the three-tier Panchayati Raj system earlier in February this year

A source in the State Election Commission (SEC) is hoping to introduce the 110th amendment of the Constitution allowing 50 percent reservation for women in the panchayats in the upcoming panchayat election.
