TIWN July 13, 2016

AGARTALA, July 13 (TIWN): Rapists Panna Ahmed’s capture by Assam Police also raised suspicion on Tripura Public Service Commission(TPSC) on TCS/TPS selection process as Panna Ahmed cracked(?) tough TCS(Tripura Civil Service) exam in 2002. Criminals like Panna Ahmed, suspicious CPI-M cadres preferred enrolling in coaching center ‘ School of Science’ located at Agartala’s Shyamali Bazar. Not only that admission into ‘School of Science’ and alleged unholy nexus with TPSC honchos produced many undeserving TCS / TPS officers via backdoor corruption. When the entire state is rocked with the issue of rape accused TCS officer Panna Ahmed who was arrested on Tuesday from Karimganj now question arises how a seasoned criminal passed TCS examination.Talking to TOWN correspondent, TPSC present Chairman Alpana Sengupta said that Panna was selected through a protocol in a the year 2001 and at present there is no link of the board with Panna. It is to be mentioned here that Ex SDM of Sonamura passed TCS in the year 2002, when Bijoy Debbarma was the then chairperson of TPSC board in Tripura. However, it shows that Panna managed to pass TCS under the chairmanship of Bijoy Debbarma. The accused was arrested on Tuesday at 12.30 PM from Shivbari road under Karimganj district of Assam.
When TIWN tried to contact the former Chairperson of TPSC 2002 Bijoy Debbarma it was found that he stays outside the state at Delhi. It is to be mentioned here that Bijoy Debbarma joined TPSC board as the chairman in the year 24-12-99 and his term ended on 08-02-05.
However, the accused Panna Ahmed was on the run since the complaint was lodged against him but finally police succeeded in nabbing him from Karimganj Bazar Shivbari road where he was staying in a rented house of Shefali Deb.
The public service commission have become spineless and puppet in the hand of CPI(M) leaders and ministers. On August, 2014 advertisement was given for appointment of 150 assistant professors for various subjects purely on merit basis and UGC guidelines.
The merit list of the applicants was prepared on the basis of mark achieved in madhyamik, HS, graduates and post graduates. Besides additional marks for those who got gold medal, Phd and selected for NET and SET. No marks for interview.
In Assam, assistant professors are appointed on merit basis. In Bengal only twenty marks for interview. This is done to maintain transparency in selection process. But TPSC all of a sudden three days before interview gave another advertisement on May 8, 2015 that all recruitments will done on basis of interview carrying 100 marks.
The advertisement was not circulated anywhere, only in TPSC website. In state only 5 percent of people are accessible to internet, surprisingly it did not bear signature of any competent authority.
This mean candidate with Phd gold medal, NET, SET is less importance, only 10 -15 minutes interview is important. It is really strange, students who are meritorious were not selected only cheers for non-meritorious students.
It is to be mentioned here that TPSC board yet in shamble after a name of rape accused like Panna Ahmed was sealed with the name of TPSC board.
