AGARTALA, May 2 (TIWN): Security on Friday was beefed up in the state capital after twin bomb blasts in a train at Chennai railway station in which a woman was killed and 14 others were injured.

“Security has been beefed up at crowded and important places like railway stations, bus stations, markets, and airport” Tripura Police spokesperson said. He, however, clarified that it is not a situation of red alert.

A 24-year old woman techie was killed and 14 others were injured, two of them critically, when two low-intensity bombs exploded in a span of ten minutes in two coaches of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express at the busy Central Railway station in Chennai early this morning.

Security was also intensified at Agartala airports, as CISF (Central Industrial Security Forces) was told to step up security in the wake of the Chennai blasts. “The orders are clear that the vigil should be maximum without any hassle to genuine passengers,” a CISF official said.

The CISF is the mandated security force that secures 59 civil airports in the country. The security agency has also asked its troops to undertake the ‘secondary point ladder checking’ in case of a suspicious activity of passenger. This frisking is done after a passenger crosses the initial security checking and is just about to board the aircraft.
