UDAIPUR, May 2(TIWN): Continuous patronisation to criminals by a section of ruling CPI(M) is now making Tripura virtually a hell for the women in general. The silent, one-sided and negative role of Tripura Woman Commission too encouraging the criminals to a great extent. With the number of rapes, killings and other sorts of violance taken place recently, Tripura is now in a position to be crowned as number in India in the sphere of violance against women.
Yet another incident of domestic violance against a woman cameto light in Tripura. This time the incident took place in Koroimura area, Bagma under Radhakishoreour Police Station of Udaipur.
On Thursday night a housewife was seriously injured when her husband and her mother-in-law set fire on her. It was 9.30pm when the housewife Soma Ghosh was doing her household work without knowing the cruel plan of her husband and in-laws'. Suddenly Soma's husband Bidyut Ghosh, S/O- Arabinda Ghosh of Koroimura along with his mother forcefully poured Kerosine on her and before the housewife could do anything, Bidyut set fire on her. She was screaming in agony when her neighbours cameto her rescue. She had severe burn injuries in her hands and legs. At once the neighbours took her to the Tripurasundari Hospital, Udaipur, where the woman is practically fighting forher life, adds the doctor on duty.
However, as Bidyut and his father Arabinda are hardcore CPI(M) party cadres, they are threatening the housewife and her parents to refrain from police; otherwife her life will be endangered, told the housewife to TIWN. Even when the media persons wentto collect news about it, Bidyut Ghosh threatened the mediamen not to publish the news as it would simply zeopardized the life of Soma. Even the local CPI(M) leaders too assisted Bidyut Ghosh.
