DHARMANAGAR / AGRTALA, June 29 (TIWN): Delay in 220 Meter Railway track at Maigrendisa (Assam) which is halting Tripura Rail Service has been canceled for urgent repair and as alternative more 92 km rail track will be laid from Lumbding-Silchar for further communication and BG Freight service. Reportedly, NFR Harkishan Jaggi has ordered to complete tracks within July 2016. After a visit, on Wednesday in various spots of North-East railway tracks NFR officials have declared about the new diversion on rail-track Ongoing re-tacking work at Migrendicia is impossible to complete within next 7 days, says NFR officials. As the BG express train service in Tripura is delaying as full track has been removed from many parts of Assam area including Migrendicia, (Assam), so NFR Authorities is sorting out the problems and diverting tracks with a 92 km BG (Broad Gauge) rail line. But doubts still remain about the commencement of Freight train from July/ August due to landslides along Assam corridor.
The diversion was undertaken following the advice of an Austrian expert Florian Krenn, who visited the site a few days back and submitted a report to the NFR.
Krenn is associated with Geo Consult, a private and independent engineering consultant providing various services in engineering on a global scale. A synthetic carpet is also setting below the tacks to make it stable.
The problem started when due to continuous water falling from hills,causing soil gets unstable and landslides. Also many other faults were found in that part including the track. NFR GM H K Jaggi ordered to Change the full track at that place and to reset the tracks there.
But the work seems more critical and complicated for the workers and they said that it will not be completed so fast.
It’s worthy to mention here that for the 122 km rail-track at Migrendicia, Railway engineers from other states had to help out NFR ot get work done.
But Jaggi says to do the work slowly and to find out anther alternative way.
Sources said the NFR faced a tough time repairing the damaged 140m-long tracks at Maigrendisa.
Sources said the hillocks on either side of the tracks at Maigrendisa comprise a layer of black soil, which was unable to discharge water following the rain and later it led to landslide. However when everything was done according to rules then the climate change caused all the damages.
However, how far this 92 km will be completed within July it’s to be seen.
