AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): ‘Make Tripura strong with ‘Unity and re-bond the Tribal and Bengalies’, MP Jiten Chowdhury on Sunday said during a progamme held at Bhagat Singh Hostel, Agartala.
He criticizes the continuous demand for Twipraland and the attempt of a section of people to divide the state. “A section of people are misguiding the tribals in a wrong way for own benefits but nothing will be good out of such violence”, said Jiten Chowdhury.
He also added, “Rather than to dream for a separate land, keep the peace and tranquility here with the bond of brotherhood”.
Before few days IPFT took a break from a separate land’s dream, but again IPFT has come up with Twipra land demand. IPFT alsoblocked National Highway, railways on June 22 and demanded for a separate land for Tribals.
According to IPFT leaders, the ADC areas are to convert into a separate Twipra Land and IPFT was demanding for a separate land since 2009. IPFT has expanded their protests outside the state.
Slamming the ruling Govt. IPFT claims that the Tribal Welfare Dept.’s reports are different from ADC original reports, which is a major reason behind the lack of development of ADC areas. On 18th February, 2016 central govt. had allocated Rs. 175.95 crores for ADC development. That fund was ordered to utilize in the development of ADC, but till day no fund has been transferred to ADC---claims IPFT.
However, the left front party here in Tripura has protested against IPFT’s demand for Twipra land fully.
However, Tripura Govt has simply declared that IPFT’s Twipra land is just an imaginary concept. , before the Municipal Election, Manik Sarkar himself during his speech at North Tripura said, “Twipra Land will remain as an imaginary object only’.
As a part of protest CPI-M units DYFI, TYF, SFI organized massive rallies at Agartala city. CPI-M State secretary Bijan Dhar calls the IPFT as Barbaric and Terrorist which raised much controversy later.
In this regard Tripura Upajati Gana Mukti Parishad also raised voice against IPFT and called Tripura people to get linked with Brotherhood as earlier.
