The 7 arrestees are : Dipak Nath, Lal Rutra Darlong, Suman Roy, Niranjan Deb, Sunil Nath, Dhriti Debnath, Hiralal Debbarma.

On Saturday getting informed by sources, police force headed by OC Jayanta Karmakar held raid in Old Motor Stand area, under Dharmanagar subdivision, where 7 persons were involved in playing “Teer”, said Karmakar.

With the initiatives taken by the newly joined OC at Dharmanagar Police Station, local people are happy.

Locals said, since many years raid was almost stopped at Dharmanagar against Teer gambling, and such an initiatives taken by police is helpful to decrease such rackets from the society.

Gambling and illegal selling of liquor are relentlessly active  at Northern Tripura and 'Teer' gambling has become a burning issue throughout the North district especially in Dharmanagar.

Allegations were raised that police is taking bribe; hence, not taking any initiative though the activities are being conducted before the very nose of police. People could not raise their voice against the immoral activities as the organizers of gambling are backed by local influential people.

'Teer' gambling is going on unabated creating a jittering atmosphere in the entire subdivision at that subdivision.

So the situation went worst as more and more people had started making cash bets upon prohibited betting and gambling activities in North district. With a motive to become rich rapidly, poor people as well as rich people have engaged themselves in such anti-social activities.

In this condition, the racket exposing by Tripura police is really appreciable, said locals.
