AGARTALA, June 19 (TIWN): Tripura PWD Minister Badal Choudhury expressed worries about the modern technology prescribed by the central govt. for making SMART City as it may hit people’s sentiment. Badal Choudhury in an Engineer’s conference also expressed concerned over the new emerging engineers in state and their new ideas as it may affect the vote-banks of Tripura Communist Ministers.

‘Since years Tripura Govt. was constructing Agartala city as per its own plan, but suddenly with the changing of Govt. at centre it re-launched few old schemed in with a new name, which is affecting Tripura’s people’s life-style’, said Choudhury.

In a conference on ‘Total Sanitation & Affordable Housing’ where Expert-Engineers were sharing their views about how to build up Tripura’s economy with modern technology and how to construct homes and other buildings in cheaper price, Badal Choudhury during delivering his speech said that ‘Technology would not replace the peace of Tripura as SMART city project destroy many middle class people’s livelihood by evicting shops, buildings, and road-side business.

However, RD Dept. Engineer S K Majumdar said that as Tripura has atleast 26, 917 homeless people, so using MGNREGA fund, Tripura Govt. can fulfill the Indira Awash Yojan (IAY) in next 1 year if Bamboo made homes (of good quality) are to be provided. This will not only provide homes to the homeless, but will increase the demand of Bamboos in state----which will raise Bamboo’s demand in state and may help to improve the economy of the state.

However, PWD Minister didn’t like that theory much and said, “Poor People demanded cemented homes. Although there are high chances of earthquake as its already knocking in Tripura’s door, but poor people will  not agree for bamboo made homes and it will emerge further as an sentimental issue against the Govt. here”.

It’s to be mentioned here that the communist leaders who are much more concerned about their votes rather than state’s economy and public’s safety will never appreciate the use of Modern Technology as it may really raised Tripura’s bamboo based products demands.

“As brick industry pollutes the environment leads to Global warming, so Bamboo will benefit in state’s economy where state will produce its own products and also will save public from earth-quake”, said RD Dept. Engineer S K Majumdar.

But PWD Minister ended with expressing concern much about people’s sentiment rather than technology as it may hamper their vote-banks. He also criticized the Modi Govt. for his ‘Unique’ SMART City project which will damage Tripura’s capital city’s view and this will be a kind of ‘Disrespect’ to the state Govt here who built up the town since decades.
