AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): Law and order is something which differentiates us from animals, said by Supreme Court judge Anil Dave during his visit in Tripura. ‘Lawless society is barbaric’, he added. Anil R Dave has arrived in Tripura to attend the Regional meet of the State Legal Services Authorities or North Eastern States at Agartala High court. However, it’s worthy to mention here that Tripura’s law and order situation broke down due to the party’s cadre-raj prevailing in State. Tripura’s Govt and CPI-M party, both are dominated by party cadres, violating laws and running state as per their wishes. For example,on Sept 2, 2015 which can be considered as the ‘Black-day’ for Tripura, when District Judge Sourav Saha was attacked by CPI-M backed Trade Union goons, but Tripura police cunningly made poor chargesheets against the accused so all the miscreants are roaming freely now.Supreme Court Judge Anil Dave’s speech reminds the similar administrative lapses.

Due to the poor charge sheet placed by police, Tripura High Court on Oct 28, 2015 granted bail to the three CPI-M leaders, CPI-M Sub Divisional Committee Secretary Tapas Datta, Member of South Tripura Zilla Parisad Babul Debnath and top CPM leader Trilokeshwar Sinha, accused of harassing District and Session Judge Sourabh Saha of Belonia.

As the Public Prosecutor did not oppose the bail petition of the accused, the HC going abide with the available facts has granted a bail to the 3 accused.

The CPI-M leaders are accused of abusing District and Session Judge of Belonia Ruhidas Pal in the court on September 2, the day Left Front had sponsored a general strike.

It is to be mentioned here that Justice Pal had lodged an FIR against Belonia CPI-M Sub Divisional Committee Secretary Tapas Datta, Member of South Tripura Zilla Parisad Babul Debnath and top CPM leader Trilokeshwar Sinha, giving a detailed account of how the trio had abused and attacked him for attending the court during the strike.

Earlier, while rejecting their anticipatory bail plea, Chief Justice Deepak Gupta said, there is no question of bail for the accused who dishonoured judiciary openly. Police should arrest them and during their interrogation must find out who else are involved in the case but today as the public prosecutor has not placed any objection to bail petition so considering the facts and circumstances the HC has granted them bail.

CPI-M goons attacked SDJM of Sabroom Sourabh Saha and vandalized the court premises. The magistrate had to take refuge in the toilet to save himself from the aggressive picketers. Former Chief Justice Deepak Gupta also issued a notice to one of the accused- CPIM leader Tapas Datta asking to file his reply within two weeks but ultimately the HC had to  issued bail to the accused due to the poor charge sheet and various medical excuses.

After the incident the then Chief Justice Dipak Gupta said, “Attack on Judges is attack on Democracy”. But surprisingly Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar till day didn’t make any comment regarding this. Being the CM he always washes off his hands from his minimum contribution to maintain the ‘Law and Order’ in state.
