AGARTALA, June 17 (TIWN): Clamouring the call for the development of North Eastern states including Tripura, Union Heavy Industries Minister Anant Geete who arrived on a one day visit in a mass gathering in front of Rabindra Bhawan gave an open call that only BJP under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi can bring development to the state. “For the first time in 30 years, the BJP came to power with an absolute majority and the swearing-in ceremony gave a hint that Team Modi was ready with a game-changing plan for the country.None of the government at the central has so far thought about the development of the NE states and only after BJP came into power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative to eye for the development of the NE states including Tripura”, added Geete. BJP’s Friday rally flopped in Agartala as merely 800 to 1000 people gathered front of Rabindra Bhavan blocking vehicular traffic from Orient Chowmuhani to Jaganath Bari road.

State BJP’s failure to mobilize people was visible as party is yet to establish grassroot base in Tripura.

However Anant Geete failed to mention the need to revamp Tripura’s weak State BJP leadership to fight effectively against a seasoned politician Manik Sarkar and a disciplined party like CPI-M.

"Narendra Modi government completes two years in office this month. Ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) government came to power in May 2014, it has been dominated by the powerful personality of its prime minister" , added Union Minister.

"Under Modi, the BJP is expanding in parts of India where it could never set foot earlier. In the northeast and in the southern state of Kerala, for example, the BJP’s base has been expanding rapidly, turning it into a truly pan-India party", Geete added.

Today, Modi remains India’s most popular politician. He has benefited in many ways from the disarray in the ranks of the main opposition party, the Congress, that ruled India for the better part of the past six decades under the leadership of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

As a part of the celebration of 2 years of Modi government at the central, Union Minister Geete said that On May 26, two years back, President Pranab Mukherjee administered the oath of office to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet.

However, BJP state president Biplab Deb along with other dignitaries remained present in the program.

Only BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi can bring about the overall development of the state.

Only BJP can light the dawn of overall development in state, said Geete.

He said that Centre is pro-active about North East and will initiate measures to bring the region’s development on par with other developed parts of the country.  There is no dearth of fund but the respective state governments of the region should ensure judicious utilization of all Central funds, added Geete.
