AGARTALA, June 16 (TIWN): Communist attitude of Tripura Govt. has been the prime reason behind the huge losses in every Textile industries in state. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Industry Minister Tapan Chakraborty could not bring progress in Tripura’s textile sector although the state has huge unemployed workers in this particular area.

Although the central govt. is pushing the state govt. to upgrade the industry sector, but the state Govt. is unwilling to take any step to boost Textile business, here.

Whereas Tripura has lot of talent in Textile sector, as the tribal women in Tripura are very much expert in it, but Tripura govt. is failed to utilize the talent and turn it into a ‘business-structure’. If Govt. could do so, may people would encourage to learn the traditional handcraft in this sector.

Tripura households could contribute in state’s business if Govt. had that mentality. In rural hilly areas, in local markets home-made Textile products are sold in weekly markets, but due to Govt.’s negligence the Textile business could not grow in Tripura Globally.

Those unused skills across the state are responsible for increasing unemployment in State.

Even today, textiles sector is one of the largest contributors to India’s exports with approximately 11 per cent of total exports. The textiles industry is also labour intensive and is one of the largest employers. The industry realised export earnings worth US$ 41.4 billion in 2014-15, a growth of 5.4 per cent, as per The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil)—but Tripura’s contribution is just zero in this regard instead of skills.

The Union Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar in the month of April, 2016 himself inaugurated the Apparel and Garment Making unit in Bodhjungnagar Industrial Growth Centre, in Agartala today. The Minister on that time said that the Apparel Units in the North East are a significant step towards the Make in India Initiative of the Government.

But the apathy of the CPI-M State govt. brought only massive unemployments and misery in State.
