AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, June 16 (TIWN): Day by day crimes in Tripura are increasing at rapid pace. And in most of the cases persons who are responsible to maintain law and order seem to be acting with arrogance , there by leading the state into a chaotic situation. Ever since Manik Sarkar assumed the Chair of Chief Minister in 1998 Tripura has been going through a phase of crimes -rapes, murders, looting, molestations, tortures on women etc. Quite surprisingly in most of the cases criminals are being treated with leniency or even they are getting VIP treatment simply due to their political inclination to a particular party. Tripura Citizen Forum President Sanjay Pal made a crucial remark saying," On our way to Udaipur we politely appealed to SP Gomati S Saraswati to met us with a deputation. Unfortunately , SP Gomati refused to take the same on the pretext of of Sunday(Holiday). We again requested her to suggest a name as her representative to take the deputation, but this time quite arbitrarily she told us that she can't send even a representative to receive the deputation."

From the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar ( in-charge of Home Ministry) to the govt officials - all are busy in proclaiming the self-propaganda of peace , amity as well as social security.

In recent years people of Tripura witnessed barbarism , mostly sponsored by the party in power , across the state. Some instances are given below :

1)      On the eve of Laxmi puja in 2014 Soma Majumder was barbarically tortured by a group CPI-M cadres of assuming the role of' hyenas' at Tata Kalibari area of Chandrapur under East Agartala police station.

2)    on September 2nd 2015 CPI-M backed parties called for a 24 hour’s strike. When Sabroom Court Magistrate Saurabh Saha was on the way to court he was verbally attacked by the CPI-M leaders. But after a while Magistrate entered the court along with his 2 more officials and the police escorted him to the office. But when Saha was doing his official work, the CPI-M goons thronged into the office and attacked on him.

3) On a Govt employee namely Tutan Dey ( working as a Computer Operator in Jolai Bari Forest Range Office) was forced to commit suicide after he was unnecessarily insulted by a group of CPI-M cadres claiming that he was having an elicit relationship with a woman though the woman's husband thoroughly denied such allegation of cadres.

4) A few days back CPI-M cadres attacked BJP Vice-President Subal Bhowmik at Amzadnagar area without any provocation in which Subal Bhowmik narrowly escaped with his life.

5) A teacher in Ramesh School was forced to make apology in front of his student by touching his own ears and even by going through a process of kneel down by a group of SFI supporters

6) Urin Therapy of SFI goons imposed upon a student in Kamalpur College for becoming a member of ABVP .

7) The murder of Nikunja Barman at Khowai bus stand in West Tripura by a CPI-M cadres cum auto-rickshaw driver for objecting to a person driving under influence of liquor. 

Again in 2016 Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) created a historical chaos by publishing jumbled result of Science Stream of HS (+2Stage ) of only 3000 students without showing practical marks. Thus, the entire state is going through a phase of anarchism under Honest(?)  Manik Sarkar's rule .

 Reacting to all these issues Tripura Citizen Forum addressed a Press Meet at Nazrul Granthagar of Udaipur on Monday, June 13th. Forum's President Sanjay Paul and Vice President Baharul Islam Majumder were present on this occasion. Interestingly Sanjay Pal made a crucial remark saying," On our way to Udaipur we politely appealed to SP Gomati S Saraswati to met us with a deputation. However, we will meet the DGP in this direction soon. " It is to be mentioned here Citizen Forum wanted to meet SP Gomati about the unprecedented death of two women in Chandrapur Manasa Bari and the death of a minor girl in Rajnagar after being allegedly raped .

Sanjay Pal , while addressing the press mentioned an interest fact saying ," As per the constitution of TBSE there must be three MLAs ( one has to be from the opposition) as the members of TBSE. But Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty himself does not know this rule. " Again he said ," We met President of TBSE Prof Mihir Deb but he too said that he was not at all  aware of the formation of TBSE, especially the matter related to 3 MLAs."

Thus, it is clear that in Tripura under Manik's rule everything is going on a wrong direction but as its a CPI-M rule everyone is forced to accept party's command -from a bureaucrat to an ordinary employee- at any cost to keep Melarmath bosses happy. The real impact of this is nothing but destruction of minimum social structure that one can expect in a democracy.
