AGARTALA, June 15 (TIWN): Tripura’s massive unemployment of 7 Lakhs youths causing regular eruptions across Tripura as hundreds of disgruntled youths protested against Govt corruption in front of Fire Service HQ at Agartala on wednesday. Tripura Govt after releasing job offers to 384 youths, finally recruited few on fireman posts due to CPI-M party affiliation and backdoor bribery. As a part of the protest against the fireman job chaos in the state, the deprived youths on wednesday staged protest across Agartala and protested to Atul Debbarma, Joint director of fire service. It is to be mentioned here that a section of deprived youths who applied for firemen jobs against 384 posts under the Tripura Govt, the govt has given stay order on those jobs, which is showing Chief Minister’s plan-wise safety maintenance policy to save his own party. According to the deprived youths they will knock the door of the HC and if required they will also file RTI into the case.

Tripura’s massive unemployment developed as serious problem as 7 Lakhs unemployed youths have no place to search jobs other than enrolling names as CPI-M cadres in party offices.

With the increase in number of pass out students, the number of unemployed is also spiked high as Tripura ranked 4th highest employment in country.

Reportedly, the job offers were distributed among 384 youths, among them however 11 posts were reserved for Civil Defence trained students. But according to the youths among the 11 candidates, only 4 candidates were eligible for the job, whereas the rest of the 7 youths had begged job via party channels.

As per the laws, while recruiting firemen under Fire Service dept, a civil defence appealer must have at least 7 year’s Experience with regular training programme records.

But the 7 candidates had only done with a 7 day's training programme, whereas many experienced people, who are presently engaged as the trainer for the new civil defence students couldn't not qualify for the job. Tension more prevails among the unemployed youths as they are becoming overage.

The Tripura government's recruitment of 10,323 teacher who future is yet at stake as HC has terminated their jobs which had led to a state-wide agitation by a section of unemployed youths and various political parties, including the Congress, Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party, with the Left Front government being accused of failure to provide jobs yet another order from HC has sent shock waves across the state.

Although the state govt. has failed to provide jobs to the qualified youths of the state, govt. with its full strives is setting up the State University to provide “Quality education”.

Inputs are increasing, but what are the outputs of education here? Day by day many degree holders are expanding, as expanding unemployed too.

In this situation state govt. has brought another plan to create more crisis of job by setting up a State University. Every year from this University many students will pass out. So including state and Central University a large number of students would pass out every year and suffer from jobless situation.

Unemployment is a serious problem in the state. Lack of industries, vocational/skill development training institutes, and absence of government policies are some of the reasons which is leading to growing number of unemployed youths.

As of 31st January 2016 data released by Tripura Govt, total number of unemployed youths remain at 7 lakhs approx.

( 3.75 Lakhs educated unemployed and 3.16 Lakhs uneducated unemployed).

As per National statistics of 2015,  the maximum unemployment was found per 1000 persons in Sikkim at 158 persons, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at 140, Kerala at 118, Tripura at 116 and Goa at 106, as per survey report.

Unemployment was lowest in Gujarat at 12, followed by Karnataka at 18, Maharashtra at 28, UT Chandigarh at 28, Madhya Pradesh at 29 and Telangana at 33.

Meanwhile, the latest report of the Employment Exchange, Government of Tripura shows that till January 31st,2016,  691,396 persons were unemployed.

As per the Economic Review reports of 2012 to 2015, Tripura ranked from 2nd to 4th places in unemployment, Kerala is in fourth position in unemployment level among states, with an unemployment level of 9.9 per cent. The three other states ahead of Kerala in unemployment levels are small states, namely Goa (17.9 percent), Tripura (14.1 percent) and Sikkim (12.6 percent).

Due to CPI-M Govt’s visionless policies, lack of planning, lack of private sector industries, nepotism and rampant corruption in Government Departments, alarming rise of unemployment in Tripura, which shows the lack of progress in 22 years rule.

Even though comrade Manik Sarkar and his boot-licker Ministers, Bureaucrats try to paint a rosy picture of Tripura’s so called ‘Golden Era’ but Tripura’s economy, unemployment further nose-dived to darkness.
