AGARTALA, June 14 (TIWN): Proposed Agartala-Sealdah Subidha Special express train cannot run from June 16 as the landslides in the North Tripura hills are blocking the railway tracks. Express train can only run once the hills are cleared. It cannot run unless the hills are cleared as frequent landslides are creating mess on railway track. However, commencement of express train is postponed for uncertain period of time from the state. When the commencement of express train is postponed, passenger train has already stopped running and it cannot resume running its wheels before June 15.Although it was claimed that BG Express train would run from June 16 with inauguration of the service by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu but uncertainty still looms large with railway tracks at the Haflong side due to the landslide.

Talking to TIWN correspondent NFR Construction official Pratap singh said that although there was a possibility to run the train on 16 June but uncertainty looms large as landslides in the hills especially with the tracks crossing Haflong appears to be problematic for running the train.

He also said that once tracks are cleared it will become easy to run the express train from the state.

According to the sources, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu was scheduled to inaugurate express train named Subidha Special on June 16.  The fully AC train with 19 coach was suppose to run for three days this month on 16, 23 and 30 between Agartala and Kolkata, however due to the landslides the train cannot run its wheels on the track.

As per the schedule the train will leave from Kolkata Howrah station on every Tuesday and will reach Agartala on Thursday. On the same day the train will run from Agartala for Kolkata.  Excluding Howrah and Agartala the train will stop at 11 stations and the first station from Agartala will be Dharmanagar.

It is absolutely clear that Modi Gov't is keen to connect the entire North-East with the rest of India by BG rail link. But unless the public amenities are available in all possible stations especially in Tripura, NFR can't start train services.

There is a big difference in running a goods train and passenger trains. Before starting passenger trains we need 100% assurance of public facilities likes drinking water, toilets and similar other things. We are in touch with the Railway Board on a regular basis.

As the days are passing by the hope for beginning of the BG express train service from Tripura by June now stands as a distant dream for the people of the state. `

Although the authority claims that there are possibilities to run train by the end of this month’s but the latest trends shows that there are hardly any chances to toll train by end of June.
