AGARTALA, June 3 (TIWN): Hope is there for the repartition of Brus soon, as Satyendra Garg, Joint Secretary in Northeast India Division of MHA, arrives in Tripura to held discussion on Mizo repartation on Friday. He is also Scheduled to visit refugee camps in Kanchanpur of north Tripura where over 30,000 Brus are presently housed since they fled Mizoram in 1997.
All these repartition planning are going on since an unwanted incident when Bru refugees burnt homes of locals.
Reportedly, the matter went worst when being a part of such clashes a refugee named Briguram Reang committed suicide on April 15 night created huge amount of resentment, hatred among the tribals there.
The fumed refugees around then burnt atleast houses and 7 houses they damaged fully.
Immediately after getting informed huge number of TSRs( around 100) was deployed on the spot and they threw tear-gases of 3 round.
But as the situation remained uncontrolled more 6 rounds of firing was done by TSR Jawans.
In total 21 Bengali families with 171 members are under the threat of the refugees. However, the situation is better with the tight security on that place.
The clashes occurred centering a water-body and fishing activity since May 4.
Then Tripura Govt. asked Mizo Govt. to take back the refuges from here.
It’s worthy to mention here the refugees, (Reangs) who fled Mizoram in the wake of inter-community violence and are now housed in refugee camps in Tripura, really gifted with a full uncertain future.
lthough Tripura Government claims for spending Rs.2 crores on relief work, but the situation at there are unchanged.
The refugee children also across North Tripura are learning a life almost from barbaric society, where no education, no healthy environment is provided to the children for the sake of their future.
However, with the central govt.’s team’s arrival things will be in right track.
