It was around 8.15pm . The incident took place at Amzadnagar area , a CPI-M den. This afternoon Subal Bhowmik attended a party rally at Amzadnagar , where 50 CPI-M families joined BJP . During the last one week Subal Bhowmik has been campaigning in various places in Belonia giving heavy blows to CPI-M in its hunting ground. Since May more than 3000 CPI-M supporters and supporters have joined BJP. This has certainly enraged the CPI-M. And today's attack is an indication that CPI-M is worried with BJP's rising strength. It is learnt that Subal Bhowmik's car was attacked by a group of 50 CPI-M cadres. They were armed with lethal weapons. Subal Bhowmik could guess what might have happened and thus he somehow escaped from the spot. But his car was badly damaged by the cadres. Failing in their attempt CPI-M cadres then attacked the supporters who joined BJP on Thursday.
In their attack three persons were seriously injured. Subal Bhowmik rescued them and took them to Amzadnagar police station by his car. Police took the injured the hospital. But one person has been referred to GB Hospital as his condition is Sai to be very critical. Till at 9.30 Subal Bhowmik is in Amzadnagar police station. CPI-M cadres tried to enter the police station but police took control over the situation.
Speaking to TIWN on this issue BJP spokesman Subrata Chakraborty said ," The cadres wanted to kill Subal Bhowmik. Somehow he escaped from their deadly grip. State BJP President talked to DG and DIG and asked them to ensure security to Subal Bhowmik so that he can reach Agartala safely. Three of our workers have been injured and now our main job is to see that they are given necessary treatment. "
Subrata Chakrabort said that today's attack is certainly indicating that CPI-M is losing its ground everywhere in the state. Thus, the cadres will try to attack those who come out against CPI-M. But he said," Our workers wont be demoralised with this. Rather this will strengthen our struggle against CPI-M. "
