AGARTALA, May 29 (TIWN): Tripura’s Central and State intelligence agencies jacked up security arrangements for historic parliamentary meet to be held in Tripura on Tuesday. Tripura Govt. has deployed huge number of security forces to keep untoward incidents at bay. West SP Abhishek Saptarshi was seen supervising arrangements alongwith senior Police dept officals conducting mock drills, rehearsals on Sunday at Agartala. Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan is scheduled to arrive Tripura on Monday. It is to be mentioned that Tripura Legislative assembly to hoist 15th Annual conference of NERCPA at Agartala and Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan to inaugurate the conference on 31st May at 10.45 AM at Tripura Legislative assembly. NERCPA chairman A.T.Mondal who is also the speaker of Meghalaya will also attend the programme.

This year two issues are selected for discussion which  includes to strengthen the NERCPA for further development NE Region sand the other one is soil erosion in NE India and its impact on the local populace.

In addition how political intervention could help resolve the local issues pertaining to NE region.

Tripura CM Manik Sarkar will remain present in the inaugural program. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Northeast is getting importance as Tripura to have a parliamentary meet as Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan is arriving in state on May 30.

All NE MPs to gather together for the first time in Tripura and Lok Sabha speaker’s arrival to be considered as a historical moment for Tripura. 

Sumitra Mahajan, who is the 16th Lok Sabha speaker of India, is an Indian politician who has been the Speaker of the Lok Sabha since 2014. 

Reportedly, 8th Annual conference of NERCPA was held at Agartala during 15th to 18th January, 2005. Then, the Honourable speaker Lok Sabha Somnath Chatterjee inaugurated the conference.

However, this year all the secretaries of NE state legislatures will present in the conference.   All the delegates will reach Agartala on 30 May and will leave Agartala on June 2nd.

Speakers for Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Manipur to remain present in the programme.

Apart parliamentary affairs minister from Tripura, Mizoram, Sikkim, will attend the conference.

Professor PJ Kurien, Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha, Dr Munisamy Thambi Durai Deputy speaker Lok Sabha, Anoop Mishra Secretary General Lok Sabha  are also scheduled to attend the conference.
