SONAMURA, May 25 (TIWN): Sonamura has become the corridor of smuggling cows and buffaloes to Bangladesh for last few months.

Cattle smuggling is rising to extreme level through Indo Bangla Border under Sonamura Sub Division.

Sub-divisional Police officer (SDPO) of Sonamura said the one BSF jawan  was reportedly attacked by Bangladeshi cattle smugglers near the zero point at Sonapur under Sonamura Subdivision  when the Jawans tried to stop them from cow smuggling.

BSF Jawan started firing cattle smuggler namely Mahisur Rahaman, sustained injuries in BSF firing and now undergoing treatment at GB Hospital.

Situation remain tensed in the area.
