AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Despites of all odds and pressure from CPI-M congress alliance, TMC supremo succeeded in maintaining her position in the chair.

Trinamool Congress took a massive lead in the six-phase West Bengal Assembly Election (total seats 294 and the magic figure 148) on Thursday.

The counting started at 8 am and by 9.23 am TMC crosses the halfway mark by leading in 209 seats. Left and BJP is leading in 74 and 10 seats respectively.

A huge mass gathering at Agartala marked the victory of TMC in WB polls.
Slogan shouting in favour of the left party, colourful rallies filled up the state. Elected to power, the TMC supporters on Thursday held a massive victory rally, with over 1000 members and supporters jostling for space at Agartala in the rally.

Amidst huge celebrations and a massive rally at Agartala city the TMC supporters marked the victory rally in the state.

The celebration was marked by colourful rallies by the ruling party candidates, leaders and worker and party supporters.

With the declaration of the election results thousands of commoners joined a victory rally at Agartala making it into a huge celebration of the hard earned victory at the closely fought WB assembly polls.  Bearers of TMC flags swarmed the rally coming in from the different part of the city. The rally witnessed high-pitched slogans in support of the left front. Women joined in a large number in the rally which saw determined commoners coming to the road to celebrate what can be touted as enormous victory of TMC.

However, it is to be mentioned here that despite continuing criticism of the alliance, the bigger question was whether the Left-Congress combine can actually succeed in dislodging the TMC. An alliance between two political formations is not only about numbers and arithmetic; the chemistry between partners is equally important. In West Bengal today, the effect of both at the state-wide level is clear, a mismatch of ideology failed to split TMC

The Congress-Left Front alliance for the West Bengal assembly polls appears simply a mismatch of ideology; the tie-up seems to be  simply a mistake and devoid of any ideology.
